All orders are subject to our terms and conditions BUYERS NOTES™ ON DOMAIN POINTERS & PARKING This is an excellent low-cost service for customers who have an existing website. A Domain Pointer, also known as Web Forwarding or URL redirect, is an extremely useful means of transparently taking your visitors from the web address they request to a website at a different address. Why would you want to do this? Say you register your Domain Name as yourname.co.uk, then to protect the name you also register yourname.com and yourname.biz. You don't wish to run 3 identical websites, so the logical thing to do is to use your most important domain name for your site and point the other names to it. Another idea for using a Pointer is that you could register the names of your products or services as other Domain Names. If they're available then grab them! Or, if all you want to do for now is to register a Domain Name and park it, we point your Name to a generic under construction page. We call this service Domain Parking. When you're ready to have a website we can point the name to your site, or easily upgrade it to a full Webspace account. Our server forwards all email received at your Domain Name to your existing email account. Additional mail forwarding can be supplied for a small setup fee, so if one person is sales@yourcompany.co.uk and another is accounts@yourcompany.co.uk we will automatically forward mail to their existing email addresses. Another useful application for a Domain Pointer is if you already have a website located anywhere on the internet, for instance, at free webspace given to you by the company who provides your internet broadband or dial-up connection. An example of this type of URL is "www.yourname. freeISP.com" - not very professional looking! With a Domain Pointer your visitors will never know your domain is using free webspace at a different location. However, we only recommend using free webspace as a short-term solution as it is so cheap to upgrade to our full commercial Webspace package. A Webspace account will not only provide your company with hosting for its website but wlll also give the professional and image enhancing facility of using your domain name to send and receive emails using our mailbox facilities.
